In 2020, we brewed and put away our second batch of Potentiality, an English-style barleywine designed for extended barrel aging. The batch was aged for 18 months in selected spirit barrels, then transferred to a second set of barrels for an additional 18 months, finally achieving their Final Forms. The aged base beer is packed with concentrated malt flavors of caramel, dark fruit and molasses. The various combinations of barrels lend further unique character to each bottle: the bourbon barrels contributing smooth vanilla and oak, subtle smoky complexity from cognac, and a rich jamminess from the port barrels.

Final Form: Optimization was aged 18 Months in Tawny Port barrels then 18 Months in 20+Year Cognac barrels.

Brown sugar malty, oatmeal raisin cookies, sweet red grapes, and a boozy brown liquor barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with a sweet and vinous, red wine fruity, candied brown sugar, and a balanced, cognac barrel boozy finish. This has a soft and full mouthfeel and is drinking great right now!
