n 2020, we brewed and put away our second batch of Potentiality, an English-style barleywine designed for extended barrel aging. The batch was aged for 18 months in selected spirit barrels, then moved to a second set of barrels for an additional 18 months, finally achieving their Final Forms. The aged base beer is packed with concentrated malt flavors of caramel, dark fruit and molasses. The various combinations of barrels lend further unique character to each bottle: the bourbon barrels contributing smooth vanilla and oak, subtle smoky complexity from cognac, and a rich jamminess from the port barrels.
Final Form: Existence was aged 18 Months in VSOP Cognac barrels then 18 months in Elijah Craig 20 Year bourbon barrels.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a VERY dark brown with a small amount of brown head. The nose is super intense. The cognac is crazy intense on this. It could literally be cognac and not beer. Some bourbon, toffee, dates, prunes, and vanilla. So much dark fruit on this!
The taste is insane. Again, loads of cognac and, to a lesser extent, bourbon. Blackberries, prunes, raisins, vanilla, toffee, red wine, and a solid amount of molasses. So freaking good.
The mouth feel is robust, but not syrupy or too thick. Strong cognac aftertaste. Great overall.

Whoa...bigboi at 19.7%! Sweet toffee malty, dark fruity plums, and a prominent and sweet cognac and bourbon boozy barrel heat finish! Taste follows with those toffee and dark fruit notes upfront...and then a jammy, almost red wine like, cognac barrel finish...a touch of oak from the barrel comes through as well. This has a world-class viscosity and mouthfeel to it. This is Fantastic!
