The third new Kolsch for Kolsch Day 2023 is a dry-hopped version, with a couple cool hops we wanted to try out together. Riwaka brings a delightful bright, lemon and herbal character, and the experimental variety HBC638 contributes some complex citrus and berry notes.

So yeah, you know the drill, added this beer to this Next Glass owned database, but not only am I adding that content, but I'm also providing the most quality review of the beer known to man. Or not. Either way, monetize me harder daddy.

So here's the deal, this could be a polarizing beer, proprietary hops (Riwaka), much less big dry hopping . . . in a kolsch. So you've got pissed off traditionalist beer nerd stroking out about now.

Pours yellow and looks kolsch-y but without the bigger white head, this one drips hop oils and has a lower volume of headspace. Great clarity despite the hops. The aroma does tick Riwaka dankness, somewhat at expense of being able to smell the yeast. I can kinda understand the clashing taste aspect the sum of these parts doesn't seem kolschy. But it has the crisp snappiness in the body and mouthfeel, so it ticks that box pretty hard. I think there is Strata in here also giving some berriness and light weed feels. I'd check it out again, definitely a mash up beer.
