Had on tap at the brewery. Pours slightly hazy, gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is honeydew melon, orange juice, and bubble gum. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, and slightly sweet. Makes for a delicious ipa. Beers like this will make Tribus a regular stop on my trips back to Connecticut.

This is a solid, well balanced first IPA from this brand new brewery. It's not revolutionary. It doesn't take chances. It's safe. But it sure is polished. It's good. Real good. I had it on tap at the brewery at their grand opening. I'll give high praise for the event itself and the look and feel of the brewery and beer garden. A+ on all of it, right down to the bathrooms and the water cooler tap reminding you to hydrate with water once in a while. The brewery even offers a review/suggestions card when you close your tab. High class. But back to the specifics of this IPA. The malts taste a little more roasted/toasty than I expected. The mouthfeel is smooth with "tight" carbonation, although that can vary significantly between brewery pours, vs. other taps, vs. cans etc. so I'm not going to claim that it's always going to feel like this. There is an overall sense of extremely high quality - in the flavor balance, the hops, the finish. This beer compares nicely with offerings from Fox Farms and Treehouse, Counterweight etc. Although it's not as bold, floral, or juicy as a typical Treehouse beer, it's right up there in terms of quality and attention to every detail. It is very different from NebCo brews, which was something I was very curious about going into the tasting, since the brewers themselves hail from there. NebCo beers are more raw/rugged and "piny" in style than this beer (and I love them too). But these guys have there own thing and Fix manages to feel very refined while remaining a beer. It doesn't cross the line into sweet juice-land. Overall, it's a solid first IPA offering from the great new brewery that's going to change things significantly in SouthWest Connecticut.
