473ml can - a collaboration with Folding Mountain Brewing.
This beer pours a fairly solid black, with the barest of basal amber edges, and three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly brown head, which leaves some decent streaky and frilly lace around the glass as it lazily seeps away.
It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, faint maple syrup, bittersweet cocoa powder, those cheap vanilla cookies, a hint of cafe-au-lait, and some ethereal leafy, musty, and earthy hop bitters. The taste is grainy and gritty cereal malt, rich chocolate pudding, still hard to pin down maple esters, creamy caramel/toffee, muddled earthy coffee beans, and more rather understated leafy, herbal, and floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-supporting frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and generally smooth, with a wee airy creaminess wedging its way in as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and mixed sugary adjuncts holding down the lingering court.
Overall - this comes across as a pleasant enough holiday tipple, with the elevated wowee sauce component duly integrated. Worth checking out, but I must warn you, it does inspire a craving for some Timbits, even after all that seasonal confectionery overdose the past few weeks!

Collab Series No. 1 with Folding Mountain Brewing.
Appearance - Pours a jet black with two fingers of foamy mocha head.
Smell - roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, earthy and leafy hops, molasses, and earthy yeast.
Taste - roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee upfront. The vanilla, earthy and leafy hops follow suit. The molasses, maple syrup, and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes silky smooth with the maple syrup, chocolate, and coffee lingering.
Overall - A bold first collab brew from these two breweries. The maple syrup acts as a supporting cast member as opposed to the star of the show which is fine to me. A highly flavourful and a nice treat to find here in Cowtown!
