On cask at the brewery.

A: Pours a dark brown, nearly black color. A dense, bubbly khaki head forms with good retention. Light lace is left behind.
S: Toasted malts, baked bread, chocolate, and some esters going on. Cask is not known for its aromatics, but this is spot on.
T: Yep, there it is. I just want to wrap myself in that welcoming malt character. Toasted malts, baked bread, bakers chocolate, fruity esters of apples. This is so damn good.
M/O: A light to medium body. Ultra fine and smooth carbonation. This is like silk, and everything works so perfectly together that I just want to keep coming back to this again and again.

One of the better Dark Mild's I have had made from an American brewer. The cask is in perfect condition, and everything works so well together. Get this.

16 oz. crowler filled on May 26, 2021, at the brewery, poured into a nonic on May 29, 2021

L: clear dark brown with loads of dark amber/dark burnt-orange highlights; might be 100% clear, hard to see because it's that dark; minimal head of beige foam from a very soft pour

S: toasted pizza crust, yeasty, toasted sesame bun, hint of dried peach or a prune with no added sugar, not tart but definitely not overly sweet

T: lightly toasted wood, toasted peach rind, earthy but not medicinal or overly bitter; it has a moreish quality despite not exhibiting much sweetness from the malt; occasionally a little peeks in, but the flavor is more dominated by the other toasted notes including toasted grain

F: arguably perfect for the style; it's been in the crowler for about three days and has lost some carbonation, but that seems to fit just fine; it's light, even a tad watery but with still enough crispness to fill it out; perfect for quaffing

O: a fine stab at a classic English style; I prefer their Gas Pipes bitter, but this lower ABV dark mild isn't bad and works well as a true session beer

Nice representation of the style - don’t get many in this part of the world.

Had it on tap at the brewery poured into a tall pint glass. Dark brown color with a decent head and good lacing. Smell of dark toast. Hint of coffee and cola, nice mild taste. Earthy bite at the finish. It is good with pizza.

my first beer from these guys, and its really very good. a very well made dark mild ale, not enough of these in existence anymore, especially from american brewers, where it seems like the english classics have all but disappeared. this has a mid brown color, a little red at the edges, and with a frothy tan head. it smells awesome, classic english ale yeast and richer dark grains, a caramelization of the malt sugar, but not sweet to me, more baked and wintery, warming, remarkably hearty and substantial for a beer thats only 3.5% abv! the flavor is great, nutty on the grain and very english on the yeast, notes of toasted chestnut, almond, and brown sugar, with a dry dough character, a little honey, and a familiar maris otter malt layer too. its nuanced and even complex for what it is, and i think there is awesome depth of flavor for it being so light. plenty of body too for the low abv, and great carbonation, a really tasty and drinkable beer. i wish we saw more like it, this is basically a walking dinosaur unfortunately, but i very much dug it. ill be on the lookout for more beers from these guys. spot on.
