16oz can into a pint glass. No freshness dating.

Black body, small off white head shrinks to a ring, no lacing. Nice strong coffee aroma which carries over to the taste. There is a hint of maple sweetness, and a mild roast. The body itself is a little thinner than anticipated.

Overall, it's all about the coffee with this one, and it's a nice bean too. Less omph that most of the Baltics I've had.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a shaker glass. It pours a dark cola with a modest khaki-colored cap and thin film of lacing. A rather subdued nose with hints of chocolate and caramel. The coffee and maple syrup become more evident as it warms. Its taste, however, is coffee-forward. There are also abundant notes of earthy, nutty char and caramel malt. The maple syrup is subtle and becomes more evident as it warms. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with pleasant carbonation, and it drinks easily at 6% ABV. Overall, First Drop is an interesting take on the the Baltic Porter style. I wish the maple syrup were a bit more pronounced.

Solid black appearance.
Medium light carbonation with about a medium body. Overall a nice feel.
Aroma is bakers chocolate, roasted malt, mild licorice, and mocha.
Taste is very similar to aroma, very mild sweetness balanced with a little dark chocolate bitterness.
Overall this was a very enjoyable beer that I would seek out again.

Decent porter with chocolate and roasted malt notes. Pours deep red with a thick tan head. Aroma and taste are the aforementioned chocolate and roasted. Overall drinkable and tasty.

Picked this up recently at Joe Canal’s in Woodbridge as I never had anything from Hidden Sands before. Thought that this would be a big stronger because of it's style, but that was atoned by the presence of the maple and coffee that gave this a nice depth and ease of enjoyment!

This poured like coffee since it's hue and consistency were dark and somewhat thin. Lots of bubbly, tan head topped it off as the lacing left behind was only in the form of a few rings along the bottom two-thirds of my pint glass. Lots of coffee, maple, and Pislner Malt in the nose as the taste was full-bodied and subtly roasted. The chocolate and lager yeast gave this a nice complexity that played off of the traditional style nicely as the stickiness from the maple and Caramel Malt ensured that the taste, and aftertaste, would linger for quite some time!

Not too strong in the booze department, this felt heftier than it was in actuality. This could have used a bit more carbonation but other than that, this was fun to drink and perfect for this time of year. No date was printed on the bottom of the can but besides that, it was hard to find a fault with this beer. A good first impression by HIdden Sands as the label was on par with the liquid! A good take on a Baltic Porter, for sure...
