Double Milkshake IPA brewed with Toasted Rice, Oats and Lactose. Dryhopped at nearly 7lbs per barrel with Citra, Mosaic and Sabro. We then conditioned it on an insane amount of Toasted Coconut, Ugandan Vanilla Bean and Marshmallow. Creamy, tropical and delicious.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy straw color, thin, creamy white head. Sweet vanilla aroma, between the marshmallow and vanilla, this is luscious. Taste and feel combine for a real milkshake / smoothie feel, sweet, creamy. Coconut is present but in a support function, accenting without overwhelming. Velvety, luxurious.

There are many Opaque Thoughts variants and this one was marshmallow, coconut, and vanilla. There is a very sweet marshmallow body and it must be from the double vanilla added. The bitter end is there as well but it is missing the bones of a balanced beer.

It was kinda predictable to see pastry stouts coming but Double IPAs with marshmallow, coconut, vanilla and lactose... boy have we come far since West Coast IPAs took over.

A- Opaque and slightly milky pour from the tallboy into a tulip glass. A massive cap almost shoots out of the glass standing strong at two fingers high with a very thick and frothy consistency. Great head retention and heaping mounds of lacing all down the glass.

S- Smells like an orange creamsicle with dessicated coconut added, really reminiscent of a popsicle and I feel like I have had this combo of things in an actual popsicle before. The coconut grows and grows and becomes a bit too similar to some soaps and such but its not too perfumy or completely overpowering. The vanilla is massive and with the hops gives the aforementioned creamsicle feel. Grapefruit, orange juice and floral hops come to mind but mostly vanilla coconut creamsicle.

T- How much marshmallow, coconut and vanilla are in this beer? The coconut absolutely saturates the tastebuds right off the bat and thankfully that way too perfumy and soapy flavor only lasts the first sip and lets some of the citrus and tropical hops come through. That being said between the coconut, marshmallow, lactose and vanilla it feels shifted to the sweet side of the spectrum a bit too much and is like chugging frosting. Eventually the oranges come out and it harkens back to the creamsicle vibes for the most part. A moderate hop bitterness cuts into the sweetness a bit but it is not enough as it still leans heavily toward dessert things. Slight peach, grapefruit, mango and orange zest.

MF- Medium to hefty body with a silky smooth and creamy texture. Soft and puffy with a medium-high level of carbonation. Bittersweet finish.

A beer with plenty to write about and a concept that could definitely work but this is just over the top with all of the ingredients especially the coconut, vanilla and sweets. Orange creamsicle with extra sugar and a lot of coconut thrown in.
