Just like a peanut buttercup in a glass, Mountains Walking is taking us for a stroll down the dessert aisle stopping at chocolate, peanut butter and cream.
Their Chocolate, Peanut Butter and lactose version of Dessert Cart has this pastry stout pouring very dark brown, looking the part of espresso but with a frothy creme to adorn the rim. As the sultry scent of fresh roasted peanuts, chocolate and french vanilla capture the essence of common candy stores. And those chocolate, peanut butter and heavy cream flavors swirl on the early palate in true candy bar form.
As the stout broadens across the middle palate, the sweetness is met with more roasty and savory flavors from peanut, dark roast coffee and a mild smoky character. With those dessert flavors stewing away, the session eventually turns spicy with a kahlua-like spice and a soft bitterness that plays out woodsy and chicory-like late in taste.
Full bodied, creamy and smoothly warm, the stout is pleasant and sweet, providing a cloying character that has the session siding with the sweet tooth deep into a long and fudgy aftertaste.
