I don't see any date listed on the can.
Appearance: The body of the beer is black but reflects a bit of dark brown across the opaque surface near the edges of the glass. It has a medium-sized fluffy and fizzy khaki head that lasts for a short while then fades to a shorter cap which fades even slower to a film that slopes shallowly to the edges of the glass.
Aroma: There are nice notes of chocolate and a kind-of bourbon alcohol note. It smells a bit like a chocolate chip cookie. Alcohol aroma floats around the outside of the glass.
Taste: Up front it tastes like caramel and sweet tootsie roll chocolate. Towards the middle of the mouth it has this somewhat earthy note with what tastes like cinnamon bark but not quite cinnamon. At the back of the mouth there is an easy tasting slightly bitter, earthy chocolate character. There is this underlying alcohol flavor that is always present but seems tame.
Mouthfeel: It is full bodied and easy to drink. The can states "12% ABV" and although the alcohol is present it feels mellow and it blends well with the rest of the beer. Mellow bitterness in the beer.
Overall: The can states that this is "MADE WITH BARLEY MALT MUNICH MALT CHOCOLATE MALT ROASTED BARLEY CARAMEL MALT MAGNUM HOPS ROASTED PECANS VANILLA BEANS DARK CANDI SYRUP." The vanilla beans and the roasted pecans don't stand out in this beer, but as a whole it is a flavorful and enjoyable stout. There is a nice chocolate flavor that the chocolate malt brings to the table and as a whole the beer works cohesively. Although the vanilla and pecans don't come through I would still recommend the beer because it tastes good as a whole. I could drink it again.
