With an aroma of ripe mango, papaya and, in our brewers opinion, Jelly Tots (yes, really), it tricks a drinker into believing they’re in for a hype juice explosion. By the time it hits the palate, all of those amazing citrus notes we love so much come to the fore and an all out attack of pithy bitter notes rock up to the party. A single hop, maxed out hop bill in tribute to one of our favourite varietals; El Dorado, we salute you.

Half at the City Arms. Milky yellow/golden pour, small creamy head. Light bready aroma opens up into citrusy, fruity flavors. Subdued, but overwhelming. Seemingly simple, but complex. Wonderful stuff.

Pours a hazy, dark orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus, tropical, stone fruit hops, with notes of orange, papaya and peach, as well as some woody accents. Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt and fruity, woody hops, with citrus, tropical and stone fruit notes of papaya, orange peach, pear and sea buckthorn, as well as some cedar wood also coming through. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some papaya, orange, sea buckthorn and cedar wood lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This makes for a rather interesting single-hopped IPA, with El Dorado providing a somewhat unique flavor profile here. While you have your typical citrus and tropical notes, there are some more unusual fruity accents to this, like pear and sea buckthorn, as well as a distinct woody character reminiscent of cedar wood. I haven't had a lot of El Dorado IPAs so far, making this an interesting drinking experience, but I'm not sure if I would seek it out again.
