Tasted by a half pint at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. Served by a handpump fitted w/ a sparkler.
A: poured a light beige and creamy head lasting on top of a very low carbonated clear and golden body.
S: a strong scent of biscuity malts dominates the nose following a swirl, the mildly spicy, lemony edge reveals alongside flower+fruit esters (a tad pear-ish and peachy); overall slightly sharp but still hoppy and pleasant.
T: upfront comes sour-ish raw nuts, earthy hops, sulphurous notes, and nectar gradually chestnuts prevail, with a touch of spiciness along with maltiness; a slightly weird sour fruitiness stays at the edge, to complement the malty foretaste. Medium-bitter finish.
M&D: despite the sulphurous and sour taste, the belated (but welcome) entry of hop bitterness, a lingering bitter aftertaste, and refreshing texture contribute to the overall quaffability. Not bad!
