One of my kids goes to UW Madison, so it always fun to try a new spot while in town.
Lucy’s 1313 is located right near Camp Randal and almost across the street from the Big 10 Pub (another great spot). It is a huge space that used to be a bus depot and then a car repair facility. The look is industrial with concrete floors, exposed beams and some really nice old relics from the earlier incantations of the building. It is over 11,000 square feet and will be packed on game days.
The bartenders were friendly and were quick with recommendations and beers. I think they had 5 or 6 house beers and then almost 20 guest taps. Being a college bar they also had plenty of cheap beers, but a house pint was the same price ($3) as a Busch Tall Boy, so the choice should be easy. We had a few of their beers. The IPA needed a little refinement but the porter was bang on.
We only had an appetizer so can’t really rate the food, but the cheese curds were tasty.
I will have no issues making a return visit.
