Tasted by half-pint at a back-street local, the Trooper, Windsor, Berkshire. As it's a Fuller's pub (previously Gale's) now, this beer is their guest ale, and part of Castle Rock's Natural Selection 2006, linked with the efforts of the local Wildlife Trusts. For, the Crocus is a "common plant before Meadows was re-developed".
A: dark orangey amber hue, coming with a nice and thick creamy froth with great retention and leaving tight lacing as it fades out.
S: lightly spiciness of Goldings upfront, joined force by a faintly tangerine-citrus note and a deeply perfumy aroma of unknown flowers/plants... Refreshing and fine, semi-sweet maltiness in the background.
T: deep fruitiness (berries and light tinge of raisins) and toffeeish maltiness come together, mixed rather well... bitter hoppyness expands quietly on the palate, leading to a sour-sweet and hoppy aftertaste with a dryish bitter touch.
M&D: showing a good balance b/w sour-sweet malts and the lingering dryish bitterness, this is a thirst-quenching and easy-drinking bitter.
