Brown 500ml bottle, best before 16 Mar 2012, drank and reviewed on 17 Aug 2011. Poured into an Abbot Ale tankard.

The beer had a slight chill haze to it, most likely my fault for cooling it for too long. The colour was a dirty light amber, an off-white head sitting on top.

The smell was of sweet peas and toffee, so a floral molasses type of thing.

The taste was initially had a malty sweetness, but once you swill it around in the mouth a bit you can feel the hop bitterness kicking in.

It's OK, I'll not be rushing out to buy crates of it, but it is the best 'Royal Wedding' beer that I've had (for William and Kate anyway).

Bight orangey amber colour that shows little evidence of carbonation. A fine lacing around the brim to the pint.

A mix of cherries, dark summer fruits and a hint of oranges. Pleasant and well balance with no one smell overpowering another, definetly a nice smelling beer.

Fruity tasting beer with the main flavour consisting of the dark fruits mentioned in the smell. Has a hoppy, bitter & semi-dry finish.

Smooth & easy to drink. It is medium bodied and generally qutie nice. Slighty flatter than I would have prefered.

A solid bitter that is quite pleasant all round The fruity smell & taste was a nice addition.

No points for guessing which British event this ale was brewed for - I saw this in a supermarket the other day and thought I'd give it a whirl. The image on the front of the label looks like it was put together from bad 90's clip art!

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2012.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear orange-amber colour with good carbonation. Forms a small, frothy head of white foam that doesn't hang around. A faint malty aroma with notes of stewed leaves and veg. Hints of esters and solvent.

Tastes of golden malt with a dry, leafy bitter finish. Notes of overcooked leaves/veg. Mouthfeel is tingly and slightly oily, with considerable astringency. Leaves a bitter aftertaste of stewed leaves.

Not an amazing beer, and unworthy of a royal wedding as well. It's too bland and has an excessive boiled hop character, although at least the bitterness isn't overly harsh. I can't recommend this, but on the plus side it probably won't be produced again.
