On his 21st birthday, James Ewen received a homebrewing kit from his craft-beer loving older brother, Sean Ewen. This sparked a passion that resulted in years of research to write and brew nearly a hundred unique beer recipes.
James discovered one of his greatest joys in brewing is sharing his beer with others. So he decided to do whatever it takes to open his own brewery and taproom.
Coming full circle in the journey, he partnered with Sean, an experienced entrepreneur, to bring his dream to reality and start the first brewery in the City of Edina, MN.

I have come to the conclusion that people will drink anything as long as there’s a brewery sign on the front of the building. The beer here at wooden Hill is not very good. In my opinion the carbonation in all of the beers is exactly the same which befuddles me. The beers are very thin as far as mouth feel goes. Cost is high per beer at 8.50. vibe is ok and the food is average. But what do I know this place is busy all the time.

I have been to over 300 breweries and this one is unique. It is almost like an all american drive-in diner vibe meets warehouse with so much wood. Staff is very friendly, offered samples without even asking which was neat, they did well to make sure the next glass was ready for you. Selection was decently large, but there was a good amount of lactose or hop forward offerings leaning gimmicky. Beers are solid but nothing to repeat. A fun space but not the first I would seek out in a return trip

Located in an area of light industrial and single story office buildings, but close to the Nine Mile Creek Regional (Bicycle) Trail. There are bike racks out front, with vehicle parking in the shared front parking area, the back parking lot, and on the street. No bar seating, rather there is a variety of booths, high tops, and community tables. Smaller seating area at the back. One patio at the front and one patio in the back. Two entrances; the back entrance is next to the back parking lot. Food kitchen on site, with burgers, hot dogs, tacos, and sides. Cooler with crowler cans and bottles to go. Brewing equipment is visible and behind a wire fence. Standard selection of beers (lighter, fruity, hoppy, and malty styles), seltzers, beertails, and non-alcoholic choices. Service is friendly, and usually there are two ordering stations open.

This is in a Suburban area of light manufacturing, warehousing, offices, and strip malls and the place looks like a machine shop converted to a brewery. They have food and it is appropriate for a tap room. The place is filled with people who work in nearby businesses, people who patronize local businesses and neighbors. There are also families and people from the local community. You can bring your kids here, get them a soda and a sandwich while you have a beer.

In Edina Industrial Park in a boring part of this park no train tracks no city view just a parking lot. Inside is open with the tanks visible to the right a small open kitchen to the left that serves sandwiches and pizza . About 10 brews on tap with the selection/variety being good, many different styles. The brews were good to ordinary. Food was good had the Reuben. Service was extremely slow, to the point that i was ready to leave with only 2 people in front of me. I stayed but will not return to many other brewery's and this one had a boring vibe with ordinary beer and slow service.

Open bar with no seating, just an ordering station and a spot to pick up food orders. The taproom is not really built for people to stand around and visit. Sitting is almost required here. A small, less noisy space at the back of the brewery to sit. No real focus on the artwork hanging on the walls that I assume is by local artists that they are selling on commission. Just not a lot of atmosphere that is just a typical commercial space with a brew house.
Small food menu that includes flatbread, hot dogs, nachos, etc. that does not require any actual cooking. Loved the nachos. Beer to go is limited to crowlers. Beer menu at my visit was limited to 8 beers with 3 of them being IPAs. I enjoyed the beer I sampled. Do not like the glassware. Flights are 4 beers with an impractical serving tray. I would ditch that right away. A lot of people ordered food but I question if it is worth it. Had 3 people just prepping and serving plus a couple more busing tables. But there are not a lot of food options in this part of Edina so maybe it will work for them. After my initial visit I would plan to eat before or after visiting the taproom.
