On tap at Hop n’ Moose brewpub. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of a white to off white foamy head that dissipated immediately. The smell started off with the sweet boozy smell of Jack Daniels with a nice woodiness running into the stout-like qualities of Swamp Donkey. The taste was boozy sweet. Woodiness lays down a bit, isn’t as drying as I sometimes find with some of these types of beers. Nice semi-sweet woody stout-like aftertaste. Sly wet boozy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a semi-sessionable to good sipping quality about it. Carbonation seems barely there, but hey, I’m not worried. Overall, really nice stout, though I didn’t see the "oatmeal" qualities to it. Still, I’d have this one again.

Bomber poured into a Sam Adams glass
Taupe one finger foam cap over a deep dark cola brown liquid, some lacings
Aroma of sweet bourbon from the pour. Notes of caramel, oak with a whiff of licorice.
Taste of oats, malt and a slight bourbon flavor, slight burnt aftertaste
Thinner mouthfeel than I expected , no sudsing
Good beer

My wife looked this new spot up when we were on our BeerCation a few weeks back. We were lucky that they had just put this special Stout on tap as it was delicious! The food was excellent as well but this beer alone is worth the trip to Rutland!
Side note, there is a Chocolate Truffle store right next door, go there after eating and drinking at the Hop n Moose!

had it tonight. great bourbon scent and taste. Very smooth drinking with just the right amount of hops a bourbon stout should have. Alcohal is blended well, no harsh blast.
