On tap at brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a glossy dark brown close to black in color. Slim finger-ed white foamy head quickly dissipates. Light in the lacing. The smell took in the sweet maple syrup notes over the roasty porter-like qualities all around. Coffee and chocolate notes slyly move in underneath. The taste was mainly sweet with subtle roasty notes in underneath. Sly sweet maple aftertaste with a dry sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a semi-sessionable quality about it. Carbonation definitely runs light on this one. Smooth and creamy all around allowing a gentle stickiness from the maple syrup to hit my tongue. Overall, really nice porter, could be a bit sticky for some people, but I liked this for me. Still, I’d have again.
