to me this one was more of a belgian pale than a saison int he traditional sense, a really clean yeast complexion, here, and very simple on the grain side of things too, but hoppier than a lot of saisons would allow for, a neat mix of styles really in a very light beer overall. its pale yellow in color and has a tall white head on it, with a cool aroma of white wine and french/belgian saison yeast without any funk or earthiness at all. noble type hops pick it up with some grass and citrus and bitterness too, while the malt base seems more pils than wheaty to me, delicate and light bodied. the flavors are nice, and while the grain might be a little overly simple and lacking the depth i like in the best saisons, the yeast and the hops work great together, white peach and green grape nuance, light gummy esters and white lifesaver candy pineapple notes, along with a defined bitterness and crispness from hops and yeast together that help this finish crisp and clean. super drinkable and refreshing, nice ferment on this one, not at all wild or interesting on the yeast side of things like i expect from good saison, but as a belgian pale or something this is exceptional. nicely done overall, whatever you want to call it...
