i found so many good pils types in texas, i guess the hot weather necessitates that, but they really are everywhere. this was great, and very cool to have it in such close proximity to their czech pils, lots of breweries down here seem to be making more than one type of pale lager which is cool. this one is a little maltier to me, breadier and crackery, more grain driven than the czech one, which is drier and quite a bit more hoppy. this one still has a nice noble hop complexion to it though, just less bitterness and more grain carrying through the finish. the lager yeast is really basic, out of the way but clean fermenting and old worldy, this is balanced and drinkable and quite simple overall, but thats what i like in the style when its hot out, and this really hit the mark for me, especially after some much more bold beers in here, it was nice to have a slammer like this. i love a good german pils, and while this one is on the lighter side of the spectrum, its a good example of the style, crisp and fresh. well done.
