Our head brewer Mike Hunsaker has had this recipe in his pocket for a while. Light and dry with flavors of tropical fruit, pine and dank grapefruit. Drinks like an old friend.

Look: Golden yellow in color and slightly opaque with a creamy off-white head that quickly forms and slowly settles to a pillow, leaving copious lacing behind

Aroma: Navel orange, white grapefruit, crushed pine needles, wafts of Cannabis, tangerine, fir needles, and bready malt

Taste: Opens up with a touch of lightly sweet tangerine and then quickly followed by a boatload of pithy citrus fruit that comes crashing in and steals the spotlight. As the citrus barrage deepens, both Cannabis and conifer notes work their way into the mix and these all go back and forth atop bready malt until a bold bite signals the end of the journey

Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and medium strength dryness on the finish

Overall: This is some good stuff. I’ve had at least one fresh hop version of this beer but had never tried the OG so had to, for science. It’s a tasty and well-made WCIPA that is still hitting strong, even at 4 months old, and brings a ton of citrus/dank/conifer to the table. Definitely a winner and one that I bet is a knockout when really fresh. Recommended

Pours a clear golden color with a small head. It has a slightly sweet and hoppy taste with a hint of spice. Aroma is the same with a hint of malt. Not your typical IPA, but quite good. Rated 5-17-2023

Clear amber brew with plenty of foam in the Chuckanut Kölsch glass. Faint aroma of straw with grapes in the nose. Pleasantly prickly on the tongue with a light body. Just a little malty taste and sweetness. Tastes like grapes with corn flakes and a woodsy finish. Rather astringent aftertaste detracts from the fruity start. Rather bitter as well, but it's that stems 'n' seeds bite on the tongue that makes me not want the rest of the glass. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 07/22/24.

L: very clear golden body with a rough textured head.
S: Bright tropical fruit; mango, pineapple, hibiscus, and floral notes.
T: A reverse of the nose. Lots of floral hops in the body, with hints of tropical fruit, then a bit of cracker malt backbone, and then a slightly piney, grassy finish.
F: Very soft in the mouth, smooth all the way through, and a surprisingly detectable alcoholic finish.
O: Smell, taste, and feel, it’s all there.

16oz can (dated 3/4/22) Poured into 14oz teku. Poured a clean, clear light honey gold color with a half-inch of white head that had low-moderate retention and very low lacing.

The aroma had some citrus and pine hops, but also some frooty hops, and a low grain foundation.

Pretty similar on the tongue, with a grapefruit component that came to dominate the back of the palate. But, the mash-up of the new, frooty hops, and the OG bitter hops is kind of a mess.

The body was medium-light, a bit coarse, and had a medium finish that dried out a bit after a few moments.

Drinkability was OK, but I wasn't left wanting another.

Overall, kind of a mish-mash of a beer. Try one if you're curious.

Canned 1/28 & reviewed on 2/27. Clear, light amber pour, smallish head, aroma is some fruit and the fruit cellar it's stored in. Taste is very dry, hoppy and with a grapefruit / tangerine backnote. A very nice strong APA and could pass for a NWIPA with no problem.

L: lovely clear golden IPA, tight white head & good lacing.
S: Getting tropical fruit in the nose (subtle), Quite dank as well.
Taste is piney, grapefruity & almost bitter like the pith of an orange peel, Hint of tropicals.
F: is very good, clean & crisp.
Love the dryness of this IPA. Dangerously drinkable.
Can dated 6/25/2021, consumed 17th August 2021.
So maybe a bit aged but definitely not retired.

Can from Orenco Taphouse. Canned 29 April.

A clear light orange with a dense white head with excellent retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is bright, pungent and biting, with pine, grapefruit, fresh oranges, melon, mango and a light floral note to round it out. Minimal malt character here. Swirling the glass allows the tropical fruit notes to come to the forefront. The palate opens bright and bitter, pungent, dank and biting with pine resin , grapefruit juice, and orange peel bitterness, layered and delicious, before a full on hop flavor assault. Bright melon, mango, a little peach and some floral notes are present. Drying, bitter , mildly dank and fruity on the finish, this beer is light in body, crisply carbonated resulting in a creamy and light mouthfeel, wholly appropriate for the flavor. The lower ABV also does a tremendous job of aiding drinkability. Excellent.
