On tap at the Taps Beer Reserve today.
The beer pours the expected blackish brown color with pretty good head retention and lacing. That being said, this has the look of a beer that has seen a bit of barrel aging. On the nose, this really smells pretty good. I'm getting considerable dark chocolate, vanilla and bourbon, with hints of dry sherry. The flavor profile replicates the nose, but is a bit sweeter than I was expecting. The chocolate and vanilla really seem to dominate, with the bourbon (unfortunately) taking a back seat. This is still pretty tasty, but I wish it was a bit less sweet. Mouthfeel is pretty full, with a long, sweet finish. Alcohol is pretty well integrated into the flavor profile, though you can tell it's up there a bit.
This is a pretty nice beer, that would be outstanding if the brewer had backed off on the sweetness a bit. Not sure if this is a beer I would order again or not.

This is one yummy beer. Nice sipping beer. It has an aroma of alcohol, sweetness, chocolate and molasses. It borders on being too sweet, but it is wonderful. Nice, very dark brown color with almost no head. The photo shows otherwise. Nicely balanced flavors and ooh so delicious. Rated 7-4-2024
