Heavy molasses and chocolate. A bit nutty. Strong bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation. Lacing (does it matter?) is good. This is a good sipper but overall a bit underwhelming. Love the mouthfeel, but the bitter aftertaste is a bit surprising.

On tap at the brewpub today.
The beer pours the expected blackish brown color with pretty good head retention and decent lacing. On the nose I'm getting considerable molasses with some underlying bourbon, vanilla and light coffee. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, with the molasses dominating. There's some sweetness, but it's moderate and doesn't come close to overwhelming the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is fairly full, with a moderately long, molasses dominated finish. Alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile, so drinkability isn't bad.
This isn't bad, but I was expecting better for their 8th anniversary release. Can't see myself ordering this again, frankly.
