The OTBS series features a lightly tart wheat beer as a delicious canvas for fruit, and spices. To this batch, we added a LOT of boysenberries.

my first taste of beer from these guys, the latest brewery to open up in saint louis, which is becoming a boom town for small breweries, pretty awesome! this is insanely red in color, and thick too, looks like a slightly more purple blood in the glass, similar viscosity and color saturation, the head almost the same color as the liquid, but airy and tall, a curious looking beer, gosh i wonder how much fruit they actually used in here, its so much it almost obscurs the base beer, not almost, it does, but in a flattering way thats almost like fruit juice, very authentic fruitiness, lightly astringent, tannic, but with a rather mild acid from the lacto though, a berliner type at its heart, but delicate on both wheat and bacteria, the base beer appears to be nothing more than a vehicle for the fruit, but a well done one at that. the density of the boysenberry is unrivaled, almost a fruit wine as much as a beer, its crazy, dry for how fruity it really is, almost gritty in texture, which works too, and just sour enough. not sure anyone would want to drink a ton of this, but its a sexy little beer and a pretty memorable first impression from these guys! curious to see where this series goes next!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
