L: Pours thick and viscous, near-black dark chocolate, liquified fudge. No head, no appreciable lacing or retention. Held to the light, this beer is an opaque dark brown, nearest to black as it can be. Impenetrable and imposing.
S: Whiskey on the nose - both rye and bourbon. Vanilla beans, oak barrel, dark chocolate, and dark fruit. Lighter notes of char and malt. Brown sugar and a hint of licorice.
T: Follows the nose, with heavy doses of rye and bourbon interspersed with a flourish of dark chocolate, cherries, raisins, and caramel. Vanilla beans, oak, and some heat. Hints of brown sugar, and something akin to chocolate cake batter. Finishes sweet.
F: Full-bodied. Thick, velvety mouthfeel; sits heavy on the tongue. Some light carbonation.
O: Outstanding American Imperial Stout. Balanced flavor profile, heavy feel and yet also remarkably drinkable considering it's ABV. Classic dessert beer.
