Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with coppery notes and a big, three finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, orange, grapefruit, mixed light stone fruit; lightly floral. Flavor is pale malt, dank, citrus and piney hops, lemon, yuzu, mixed mystery fruit with tropical character, dankness. Citrus rind, dank and lightly piney finish with fine bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Although nice and transparent with good pine and citrus, this seems to have a novel combination of newer hop varieties. Looks, smells (missed the caramel in the aroma in the taste, alas) and finishes very West Coast, but the hop bill takes an interesting turn somewhere. Hop flavors and good bitterness kept me interested, a worthy updated West Coast style IPA.
