Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of pale malt with a touch of caramel, mild citrus and piney hops, orange and a little mixed tropical fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and piney hops, lemon and mild stone fruit. Resinous finish with a little earthy woodiness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Labelled as a PNW IPA, this is more reminiscent of Southern Hemisphere IPAs to me. It has both Mosaic and Southern Cross hops, but the latter seems the dominant flavor, with the Mosaic adding some little fruit notes. The New Zealand hops always taste a bit earthy to me, but the pine and light fruit here balance that out. I picked this out of a literal wall of hazy and fruit juice IPAs and glad to get the solid burst of piney bitterness that this provides in the finish, which is a PNW character.
