Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a very fizzy, half finger dark khaki head that dissipates immediately to a slight ring around the glass.. Aroma of lightly toasted dry biscuit malt, malted milk and a hint of dried plums. Flavor follows, with biscuit malt with a touch of toastiness, malted milk balls and dried plums. A touch of grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with light to medium creaminess. A spot-on Baltic porter profile with classic tasting malt and the anticipated dark fruit notes. Flavor is a little dialed back in depth, but just what I want in flavor balance. The slight hops are a nice touch. This was so fizzy, it made me nervous at first, but flavor and carbonation are fine. I wish there more examples of this style, it's one of my favorites and often seems to be a one-off.
