1718 Brewing Ocracoke

 

Visited on a late September Monday night - kinda dead. Service was therefore excellent. Had their Southern Hemisphere IPA, which was also excellent. Quite a variety of beers available. Waitstaff was attentive, prompt, and somewhat knowledgeable. Overall, I'd go back here in a heartbeat!

Right next to Howard’s is the island’s only brewery. Ample outdoor seating. Beer is slightly better than average but the setting definitely helps. Plum Point kitchen shares the space and has very good food and apps. Crowlers and growlers of select beers are available to go if you’re in a hurry.

I was excited to hear that a new brewery would be opening in the Outer Banks. Given that they have been operating for less than a year, I set expectations low. This place is a pleasant surprise already. The beers that we sampled felt dialed in. 1718 offers a nice range of pales, sours, and stouts. All beers are lower abv (5-7%), one thing holding back the selection is lack of bigger beers. The building is interesting- lots of wood, windows and a nice area upstairs with a good view. Service was excellent, though we came on off hours. The kitchen serves a great soft pretzel along with some other food which looked good. I definitely recommend this stop if you are in the area.
