a well made and delicate pils base here, would be good on its own, but spiked with lemon and lavender, i had concerns about the level of the lavender, that can easily overtake beers, but they did a nice job keeping it light and i think overall this is a tastefully done summer beer, a little different from what else is out there, and the lemon and the lavender go extremely well together, unexpectedly compatible, fun stuff and not too heavy handed which i admire about it. pale and clear, not much head retention but some lace as it drinks, bright looking. aroma is more lemon than lavender, and the crackery european grain comes through, light and not overpowered by the added ingredients. lemon is bright and natural, rind character and juice, while the lavender is dried but vibrant, both neat with the old world lager yeast, good proportions apparent, not very hoppy. the flavor is lemon up front, lavender in the second half, i really only taste them together for a flash, but it the trajectory is cool. the base beer comes through plenty, this has balance, and its dry but not so dry that the lavender is exposed at the end. notes of floral honey, green tea, and limoncello, good carbonation, very flavorful. neat beer for high summer, these guys have upped their game recently, enjoying both their new flavors and the fact they seem to be showing up around the valley a lot more. this is clever.
