A: hazy; deep pink in color; 1 finger finely pored pale pink head that receded to a thick collar; no lacing;
S: raspberry puree;
T: slightly tart raspberry; coriander is faintly noticeable toward the end; slight salinity at the finish and through the aftertaste;
M: light bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: refreshing - really didn't get blackberry at all;

12 oz bottle at Jesse's house in CT.
Really cool ruby red/purple color to it with a pink head that dissipates quickly. Strong berry aroma and you can pick up on the tartness. The acidity is prevalent in the flavor as well with a bit of salt. Fruity but a little lacking in the flavor. Medium-light bodied, tart and refreshing. Overall, it's unoffensive but didn't have enough character to make it great.

East Rock Brewing Co. "Blackberry Gose"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without production codes or freshness dating
$1.83 @ Mo's Wine & Spirits, Fairfield, CT
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's a hazy pink-ruby in color beneath a light pink head of foam that drops rather quickly. The aroma is fruity and somewhat berry-like but otherwise fairly non-specific. There's also a little bit of a mineralish character to it. The flavor reminds me of a Flintstone's vitamin with a drip of honey on it. It's gently acidic upfront, and then the honey-like sweetness comes out in the finish. Would I know that this was blackberry if it wasn't on the label? Maybe not, but the flavor is much clearer than the aroma and I'd certainly be guessing in that ballpark. The coriander comes through as well, giving it a soft, woody spiciness and the salt shows up in the finish. There's not a lot of bitterness, as it should be, and the soft acidity and salinity is enough to balance it. It's medium bodied and it's got a mild zestiness in the mouth from the acidity and carbonation. Overall I think this is a really pleasant, natural tasting fruit beer, and a much better representation of the style than most.
