Pours an effervescent chestnut with one finger of tan head, drops off pretty fast. No head retention or lacing
S: Spicy brown bread, a touch of gingerbread, molasses shows up once the beer is warmer
T: Follows the nose, a touch of molasses, some slight nutty notes, dryness & leafy hops up front, a touch of figs. Brown bread, a little bit of fig jam, dryness & leafy hops as this brew warms through, a touch of treacle as well. Finishes toasty, dry with a touch brown sugar, leafy figs & brown bread
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, warming
Super solid take on the style, pretty darn drinkable

Picked up this 500 ml bottle at the brewery release yesterday. Pouring at cellar temp into my .5L dimple mug.
Excited to try this beer for the first time as Ive missed previous releases.
The beer pours a rich cola brown color with a fluffy tan head of about 2 cm foaming up. This foam fades quickly to a sturdy edge layer. Several small islands also float on the surface of my glass.
Aroma is some dark toasted malts, a bit of bakers chocolate and hints of molasses. No hop presence and the ABV is hidden as well. The dark chocolate is sort of dominant, and its really on the bakers chocolate spectrum.
First sip reveals a soft clean lager mouthfeel, very fine and tingly carbonation.
Flavor is similar to nose with a good dose of chocolate and roasted notes, almost a little char on the back end. The finish is also bakers chocolate and slightly bitter. not hop bitter, but high cacao chocolate. the beer drinks really easy and I finish this 500 ml bottle much faster than anticipated, which definitely sneaks up on me a little at 8.5%.
Glad I bought two of these bottles and recommend em for malt lovers in the area!
