A challenge to brew but a pleasure to drink, the Pilsner Project was created to highlight the nuanced flavors of German-grown hops balanced alongside a seasonally inspired malt character. Brewed a handful of times per year, each batch is designed with a featured hop to allow for a full expression of its flavor. A true passion project, we hope you enjoy these Pilsners as much as we enjoy making them.

One of the four noble hops, Saaz is prized by brewers around the world and unequaled to this day. Its distinctly soft and pleasant aroma captivate the nose, while delicate herbal, floral and spicy notes work in perfect harmony. Hints of cracked grain and white grapes from the use of imported Pilsner malts complement this tantalizing hop profile and allow for a full expression of its flavor.

Pours a fizzy bubbly 1 finger head with med retention, almost no lacing, clear pale golden color with a touch of tiny sediment

Nose big pilsner malt, straw, doughy cereal grain, hint of vanilla, floral herbal hop

Taste grainy pilsner malt up front, cereal, bread dough, straw, mild herbal floral hop with a mild noble grassy and spicy note, light bitterness, dry finish, spicy hop note lingering

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, med prickly carb

Overall not bad, good malt, decent hop presence but wish it was a bit more forward

L: Pours a pale straw with excellent clarity. The pour yields two fingers of a pillowy white head with good retention as it slowly falls to a substantial 5 mm cap leaving a light webbed lacing on the glass.

S: On the nose I get a honey grain malt character, herbal and floral character reminiscent of freshly cut windrows of alfalfa with wildflowers mixed in, and a hint of noble hop spice.

T: Following the nose this is a classic noble hop pilsner. I get notes of freshly cut grass mixing with floral notes, earthy noble hop spice, and a nice pilsner malt back bone exhibiting light grainy sweetness. This one has a nice medium bitterness that overcomes and dominates the sweet notes coming from the malt bill.

F: Medium light body with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and crisp with a nice dry finish.

O: We have a winner here. Everything about this beer is quality and I wish I could get it year round. Actually I am kind of miffed that I have somehow missed all of the previous versions of the pilsner project. Highly recommended.
