Draft at Sandhills Hutchinson. Poured a slightly murky, brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of roasted malt, toffee, caramel and peat. Smokey taste with toffee, caramel and peat.

Pours a dark brown with a clear transparency. Head is two fingers of caramel colored foam. Aroma is nearly all malts, hitting notes of toasty, nutty, and bready. Resiny hops add some contrast. Flavor profile digs into the malts again, hitting toasty, bready, nutty, and caramely malts. The bitter taste is finished off with a blend of mild resin, grassy, and herbal hops. Mouth feel is medium-thin. It has a crushed velvet texture after the initial sharpness fades away. Overall, a little bitter, but otherwise a fair malt bomb.

The best part of this beer is the slightly sour note on the tongue and nose. The body and feel are a little flat. It could be because the can is a couple years old.

On tap. Brown with a tan head and no lacing. Smells of malt and caramel. Flavors follow the smell. Less flavor than done Scottish ales I've had but it's not bad.

On tap. Comes a dark reddish brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of malt, grain, and fruit. Taste is malt, grain, caramel, and some citrus. Nice take on the style.
