A big beer featuring rich notes of chocolate and coffee, Raven is a beer meant for sipping on cooler autumn or winter days. This beer stands firmly on its own but also stands up to extensive barrel aging.

Pours black with two fingers of khaki foam. Good retention. Aroma is roasty, toasty, bready, and caramely malts. Non-malt notes of toffee, fig, and chocolate add to the deep and rich aroma. Flavor profile is roasty and toasty malts out front with chocolate and mild toffee behind. Rich in taste, but not overly sweet. Later, bready and caramely malts develop alongside (mild) molasses. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a very mild silt, especially at the onset. Finish is creamy. Overall, solid, decadent little imperial stout. Not overly boozy either.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted malt, coffee, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate and toffee taste with coffee & roasted malt.

This cabernet barrel aged imperial stout is extremely drinkable. The barrel aging has given this beer a really tasty sour finish. The beer is robust, but not so filling that one feels like a meal.
