Pours a foggy burgundy-copper with a finger of off-white foam. Aroma is spry rye, with earthy and piney hops behind. Some soft cedar in the mix, which adds a mellow quality. Malts are wafery. Flavor profile is a bit more involved, hitting earthy, piney, and resiny hops and bready malts at the end. Rye with a bit of bite, and soft cedar occupy the middle. It has a touch of old school hop burn at the finish. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a soft, and plush texture with just a bit of grit around the edges. Overall, rye and cedar add a wonderful balanced combo the otherwise old school red IPA.
