Pours black with two fingers of fluffy tan foam. Visible sediment at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts met equally with cherry. Cherry leans more towards sweet than tart. Chocolate, toffee, and caramel show up behind, with chocolate being the strongest, and caramel being the weakest. Flavor profile is chocolate, cherry, and roasty & toasty malts. Each hits as about 1/3 of the flavor profile, with the gaps filled by toffee, dark fruits, and fudge. It strikes a firm balance between overly roasty, and sweet, with each piece pulling it back into the center of the web. Mouth feel is chalky with a mild grit to each sip. Thickness is medium-thick. Overall, as the label says, it boasts cherry over an imperial stout. It carries all the darkness and bitterness of an imperial stout without a ludicrous ABV.
