Pours black with two fingers of khaki foam. Head has good retention. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts mixed over chipotle peppers, which add a swell of mild spice just big enough to disrupt the underlying malt sweetness. Caramel and grassy hops add some extra depth to the aroma. Flavor profile is roasty and toasty malts, again, with chipotle peppers that come in on the back half and build until the finish, lingering slightly after. Caramel and a timid dose of brownie batter bring forward a little additional sweetness. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture is soft and velvety - feels good. Overall, while the description could lead to heartburn, the execution of the beer is done well enough to avoid heartburn.
