Appearance:
Patchy creamy buff head that lasts and laces well. Dark amber brown (mahogany) color. Filtered clarity. Looks delicious.
Aroma:
Toasted bread, wildflower honey and caramel, moderate spicy noble hops (think Saaz and their ilk) and a faint but bothersome funk that reminds me of masala chai spice, raw dough and Ivory soap that fades as it warms (thankfully).
Flavor:
Woody, bready malt upfront, moderate caramel and toasted bread balanced by softly bittering noble hops. Clean, toasty finish.
Mouthfeel:
Light mouthfeel appropriate for a 4.5% beer. Low to Moderate CO2. No astringency.
Overall:
This beer showed up at a Walmart in Oklahoma City recently. Now that the beer laws have been upgraded we get a lot more things and at the intended strength. This showed up near the Shiner Bock. I ws expecting a Shiner Bock clone, but the Belgians know better. Packaging looks like Shiner, but looks much nicer in a glass than Shiner Bock. Aroma is weird, Flavor is meh and Mouthfeel is OK. Honestly, overall, I would rather have a Shiner Bock. Also, If I want an authentic German bock there are far better options than this Belgian one.

A: Pours a clear dark mahogany in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a one finger tall dense fizzy foamy light beige head that reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of bready, toasted, and caramel malts with a slightly stronger than moderate amount of caramel sweetness. Light aromas of light fruit (apple + grape) yeastiness and a hint of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of bready, toasted, and caramel malts with a slightly stronger than moderate amount of caramel sweetness. Light to moderate flavors of light fruit (apple + grape) yeastiness. Light flavors of earthy hops which imparts a hint of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving lingering sweet maltiness.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. A touch sweeter than I prefer my bocks but still enjoyable.
