Making sure that the bills get paid, the beer version of economic stimulus lies in fruited sour ale. And this is the secret that Two Tides and J. Wakefield know very well. With the fruits of mango, peach and raspberry piled high on a sour and creamy base beer, someone's about to get paid!
Hazy beige and with an earthy tint of taupe and peach, the heavy glow that permits the haze carries a creamy bone-white froth and a tantalizing scent of those prescribed fruits with a creamy and tangy interplay with herbal and cereal attributes.
A sweeter tone strikes first with the first sip of taffy, cream candy, sourdough and a general confectioner's sweetness.
An explosion of fruit flavors happen as the ale washes the middle palate with succulence, sourness and brightness. Mango and peach combine for that rounded stone fruit and tropical flavors that carry their own special acidity and exotic flare with a grounded orchard-like character. With the boldness of raspberry bringing its own unique spin in taste, a suggestion of pink lemonade forms on the late palate. Gooseberry, lime, lemon and grapefruit complete the medley of sour fruitiness as the session closes.
Medium bodied and trending light in finish, Cash Flow has that tropical take on creamsicle nailed down. The lactose plumps up the fruity flavors but limits the beer's dryness and refreshment, making it basically a six percent sorbet. Fine! Take my money!
