collaboration with horus, who i know too little about, a czech dark lager and a very good one, unique in a tight style window, drinkable, i appreciate the especially low alcohol, and i think this is quite worthy overall. cool can art, rather dark pour, a little reddish along the edges otherwise brown, some modest cloudiness to it, not sloppy looking but not insanely well refined looking either, fizzy tan head popping on top. the nose on this is subtle, i get the yeast ahead of the darker barley in it which is cool, not as bitter or as roasty as many of these, raisin and leather in the nose, earthy soil type minerality, light hop bitterness, a bit of middle malt sweetness, toffee and molasses there, dry at the end, lightly dusty and european, a german element to me too. the flavor is all of this. but less complex overall than i am making it sound, its easy and simple beer in a lot of ways, nice malt character, freshness but also lager maturity, the ferment is what makes this, and its obviously well conditioned. the carbonation is great, i like the light smoke to the low end, and found this a pretty easy one to rip multiples of. fun to crank on these with my brother, our occasions for hanging and cutting into beers are too few and far between! i was impressed with two tides across the board, this place absolutely rules and their beers are inventive and stylish.
