Coffee Stout
"Rich, medium roast coffee is added to our classic American style stout. The coffee aroma shoots out of this beer and compliments the roasted grains nicely.

Pours black (SRM 40+) with a frothy half-inch off-white head. The head fades fairly quickly to a creamy ring around a PBGC Malty pint glass.
Espresso aromas are strong right out of the gate, quickly followed by deeply roasted malt. Charcoal is revealed with warmth and there are no hop aromas. After a few minutes, Baker's chocolate makes itself known and there is a light mustiness.
Bitterness is light and edges out the sweetness. This beer is all about the roast. Each of the aromas come through, in particular, espresso, charred malt and chocolate. The finish is mild and semi-lingering.
The medium body contains a hint of alcohol and more than a suggestion of carbonation, though it is far from flat. The beer is dry, yet mouth-watering with no astringency.
This drinks like a comforting old school Stout with a coffee twist. It is similar to reminiscing with an old friend. I immediately recalled nostalgic times with friends at an old bar in Manhattan when I introduced them to Guinness. Fortunately, this brewer is nearby and I can get more to compliment a mild cigar on a cool, damp Autumn day. Maybe even Thanksgiving afternoon.
