Fills a Pretentious Glass Company Crispy Boi tulip glass with an opaque, reddish-orange beer. A one-inch, off-white head is comprised of fine cream. The head lasts a couple of minutes before dissipating to a thin veil, leaving patchy lace behind.
The basil is prominent, overwhelming the background strawberry. The aroma has a general earthy and yeasty quality.
The flavor starts off with strong basil that is quickly displaced by strawberries without every going away. In general, sweetness is greater than the modest balance of bitterness and sourness. The finish is long and becomes tart with progression.
A full body and soft, smooth texture. Carbonation is light and prickly, while the alcohol is about as expected.
This was an enjoyable beer on a late summer day. It definitely achieves expectations, although falling short of the "wow" factor. I finished it while reading on a cool, sunny Saturday afternoon. Thank you to Dave.
