This beer is muddy orange with a short-lived, loose, half-inch, almond head. It appears very similar to papaya flesh, though the color is less saturated. There was no lace left on the wall of a PBGC Crispy Boi tulip glass.
Having been a while since my last papaya, and never having tried passion fruit, I picked up one of each before drinking this beer. Both were properly ripe, according to "Fruity Fruits" on YouTube. While initially earthy with a wet sock influence, the resemblance to papaya is very much apparent. There is also a late, mild chocolate aroma. In actuality, this wasn't all that pleasant.
The flavor is very juicy with both the pineapple's sweet flavor and the passion fruit's tartness being showcased. This is followed by fresh-squeezed orange juice. In all, the flavor is much more pleasant than had been suggested by the aroma. Late, and after some warmth, faint banana can be found along with the faint, yet distinct chocolate. The finish is long and remarkably similar to papaya, though with tartness.
A medium body and silky texture. Alcohol is below expectation. Carbonation is light and fizzy.
This is a good and interesting beer. Well worth the experience, it matched an overcast mid-Spring afternoon.
