Juicy pale ale with BRU-1 hops. A new variety developed by John I. Haas and Brulotte Farms in the Yakima Valley.
It is big and bold with a fruit-forward character and stone fruit that is backed by a soft spice. Also offers clean bittering. The aroma of freshly cut pineapple and green fruits. BRU-1 is synergistic with other hops creating a depth of fruit flavor. BRU-1 has also been shown to improve haze stability. Pale Ales and IPAs are the obvious styles, but also try brewing some funky Belgian styles.

Pours very hazy with a light orange glow (SRM 4-6) and a muddy green tint. The creamy white head reaches one inch and lasts for a long time before leaving a coating of fine lace on a Spieglau IIPA glass.
The aroma is sweet with citrus like tangerine and fresh pineapple. There is a light background of wet pine straw.
Bitterness is a bit high for an APA. Sweetness does follow as does the flavors vs. the aroma. Pineapple is slightly less and pine is a fair amount stronger than the aroma. The finish is long, holding a grassy bitterness all the way through. The grassiness builds considerably with warmth, as does a spicy bite from the hops.
Light, fizzy carbonation lifts the medium body and soft, woolen texture. There is a light astringency.
Thanks to Dave for another good, juicy, Pale Ale. You got the short end of this trade. This beer could easily have been classified as an old school IPA and will work well with casual conversation and bar snacks.
