A short-lived, fizzy pink head reaches one-half inch within a StrangeBird IIPA glass. After a minute, only a ring remains over the hazy, dark fuchsia beer.
The aroma is filled with dirty socks, light skunk, and grapefruit. Passion fruit is effectively the scaffolding upon which the rest is supported. It's possible that the currants are here, however, they are easily lost.
Wow! The passion fruit is strongly dominating. The currants are a worthy competitor. Tartness is just as abusive in the beer as it is in fresh passion fruit. Bitterness and sweetness follow almost as strongly. The finish is long and acidic, bringing the fruit with it. Tartness and sweetness become overwhelmed by bitterness as it warms.
A medium body. My tongue feels like it has a paper cut with citrus being poured over it (thanks, Dave). Still, I can't stop drinking it. Carbonation is mild, and alcohol is as expected.
This beer is simultaneously difficult to drink, and yet, quite refreshing. I am happy to have enjoyed this, but my tongue will need to recover before I open a second can.
