I visited the taproom at FIRST’s brewery in the Újpest district about a week ago. On my visit they had 8 of their own beers on tap plus two guest beers from Brew Your Mind (which is, I think, the best IPA brewery in Hungary). They style range of the FIRST beers was mostly IPAs and sours, much like their downtown BBQ taproom, plus a lager.
I had two of the IPAs and the lager here, and while nothing was particularly outstanding, nothing was bad either.
The taproom itself is brick and glass and steel, bounded on two sides by the brewery - the whole works is in view, which I always love. There’s a dart board, foosball table, and board games, and the general atmosphere seems pretty fun. I was there on board game day, with staff and customers alike playing together. Though the bartender was also playing, it was slow enough that I never had a problem getting a beer - we even had a nice conversation.
It’s a bit of a hike to get out there if you are on public transit, but it can be done, and I’d recommend it if you have the time.
