Coffee black with clear brown edges and a short but softly puffy tan head settling to a thin bubbly ring.
Featuring a pleasant roast, this really is not all that pastry-centric. It's more balanced than I expected, with a roast that's very coffee-esque and a little bittering, like toasted cacao. Ribbons of vanilla and a sort of mocha liqueur accent the silky medium body, as the fine then expandingly soft carbonation brings it to a semi-dry finish with a touch of heat. As it warms, a hint of black licorice comes out, while the nose becomes more chocolatey than taste.
