Chill haze burnt orange to amber with a short off-white foam head.
Lightly dank and bitter, there are touches of evergreen cologne and triple sec without the heat. A faint hint of mustiness tests and confirms the scatole theory, as its just barely there presence only improves the experience.
The medium body is fluffy before crisping up into the dry finish.
Assertive yet cleanly crushable, the malt leans graham but not quite, while also having notes of toasted cracker. More generally, this IPA steps away from too much of one flavor while delivering the West Coast promise well. It's all in balance with not one thing really dominating, making it hard to pull out individual flavors, which overall is a sign of a great brew.
