Brown actually, and almost clear, with a short khaki head. I can't remember the last time I had a porter that looked like this, let alone a stout.
Yet on the palate, it expresses a surprisingly creamy coconut presence, albeit quickly cut but a crisp carbonation that surfaces a nutty malt, overall taking this more into a brown ale direction, as opposed to the stout it was meant to be. It's even a little herbal on the exhale.
The medium-light body comes to a tingly semi-dry yet lightly sticky finish. It really is crazy light for the style, but I guess that's where the *tropical* comes in.
